Peru 2014 (South)
The first AGS Tour to the South of Peru in March 2014.
We started in Arequipa and botanized here a few days to get used to the high altitude. Then we drove to the Colca Canyon where we saw many condors, but also some very nice plants. Our next goal was Tassa, a very small mountain village in the district Moquegua. But unfortunately there was much snow on the high mountain pass that we had to stay overnight in a tiny village in a school building. The next day we arrived in Tassa. Here we found the plant with the largest inflorenscence in the world, Puya raimondii. Our next goal was lake Titicaca. From here we flew to Cusco and by train to Matchu Picchu, the lost Inca city! During the whole tour we saw many special and rare plants from which the Nototriches are on top of the list from most tour members.
