Jemen-Socotra 2012

One of the most special trips ever. A very unkown Island and difficult to get too. We flew first to Dubai, then by taxi to Sharjah. Took the plane to Mukalla (Riyan Arport in Jemen!) and then from there in 1-hour by plane to Socotra. Due to extreme weather we couldn't land on Socotra and flew back to Mukalla to stay here 3 days before a new flight brougt us finally to Socotra. Socotra has an unique flora and fauna (33% endemics) and it looks if time stood still here. No big hotels as there are not many tourists. We explored this Island very well and saw many different plants and animals. We had our own jeep plus driver and a guide who even knew most of the plant names. We wanted to back to Socotra in Februari 2015, but because of unstable situation in Jemen, we had to cancel the tour. It is unsure if we ever have the chance to go here again.
